Meet Arabella

I’m Arabella — a passionate singer, musician, and educator. Like a lot of vocalists, I poured years into developing my voice. I loved singing. I loved jamming with my friends. But when it came to music theory? It felt like something to check off a list — a class to pass, not something to enjoy.

I had been singing for over a decade when I joined a jam band… and suddenly, it felt like I was back at square one. I didn’t know how to count the band in. I couldn’t follow a chord chart without second-guessing myself. I had strong musical instincts — great ears — but no real tools to communicate beyond my voice.

A New Kind of Music Lessons:

That first rehearsal was… humbling. But it was also the moment everything changed. I realized that the problem wasn’t me — it was how theory is usually taught. It’s built for instrumentalists, not vocalists. So, I set out to change that for myself.

I enrolled in lessons with a jazz saxophonist, a classical pianist, and an alternative guitarist — not to master their instruments, but to understand how they thought about music.

A Break Through Method:

Those lessons opened up a whole new world. They didn’t just drill scales or talk through chord voicings. They taught me to listen, to feel, to respond. And surprisingly, we did it all through singing. We barely touched the instruments — and yet, I was learning faster than ever before.

That’s when it hit me: as singers, we’re not missing anything — we’re just not being taught in a way that makes sense for us.

Our voice is the instrument. We already have everything we need to understand music — we just need a method that starts where we do.

Launching Sing Theory:

Sing Theory is my answer to all the singers out there who feel lost in theory classes built for instrumentalists. It’s a singer-first approach to learning how music works — using your voice as the tool to explore rhythm, harmony, and song structure in a way that actually makes sense.

I tested these ideas with my students… and it clicked. Now, I’m sharing it with you.
